Additions and edits were requested at SLO Regional meetings, the SLO Institute in July 2010 and the Student Success Conference in October 2010 to revise the glossary in time for Spring Plenary 2011. Revision of SLO Terminology Glossary was included in the charge of the Student Learning and Assessment Committee.

Whereas, Resolution 2.02 S08 asked the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges to address the confusion in the field regarding definitions of key terms relevant to student learning outcomes and assessment by researching and developing a glossary of common terms;

Whereas, A glossary of the most common terms has been developed, vetted, edited, and revised by faculty, including Student Learning Outcomes Coordinators, researchers, and the Academic Senate; and

Whereas, The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges acknowledges that the Student Learning Outcomes Terminology Glossary does not dictate terminology to local senates nor does the Glossary claim to be comprehensive;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend the Student Learning Outcomes Terminology Glossary for discussion and for use as a resource by local senates; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges solicit feedback about and review the SLO Terminology Glossary periodically to reflect evolving understandings of the accreditation process and developments in the field, the first review of which will occur no later than the Spring 2011 Plenary.
