Summary
Oppose the implementation of any new UC/CSU transfer admissions practices that do not include prior consultation with the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges.
Enter into a dialog with the CSU Academic Senate regarding the composition of local service areas and their impact on community college students who wish to transfer.
Status Report

We continue to remain vigilant and were invited by our ICAS partners to participate in the CSU LDTP discussions. ASCCC's role in advocating for the community colleges in all transfer initiatives is well-established. Fall 09: LDTP officially suspended.

Whereas, The California community colleges serve as the primary gateway to higher education for 2.9 million Californians;

Whereas, Reductions in the state budget for the California State University (CSU) and the University of California (UC) systems have become the catalyst for significant alterations in transfer admissions practices for California community college students;

Whereas, Existing transfer tools such as CSU Certification, IGETC and ASSIST represent an important framework for facilitating transfer for California community college students that deserves full consideration; and

Whereas, Discussions and decisions regarding CSU/UC transfer admissions practices have been occurring without the input of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges oppose the implementation of any new UC/CSU transfer admissions practices that do not include prior consultation with the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges.
