Compton is under the accreditation aegis of El Camino and remains a recognized ASCCC senate. The ASCCC continues to advocate for the college and its students in communications with the ACCJC, the System Office, and other groups.

Whereas, The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, which represents 109 member senates and more than 58,000 professors, is on record as supporting, in solidarity with the communities of Carson, Compton, Lynwood, Paramount, North Long Beach, Watts, and Willowbrook, full accreditation for Compton College;

Whereas, The voters in these communities, who, as a result of their 78-year relationship with Compton College, recently passed a $100 million bond for new construction, technology, and infrastructural improvements at the campus find themselves effectively locked out from determining the fate of the college their dollars have supported;

Whereas, The faculty of the Compton Community College District have worked diligently towards addressing the academic aspects of accreditation, and the state's managerial control serves to correct deficiencies in this area; and

Whereas, The unwarranted unilateral removal of accreditation from any of California's institutions of higher education by an entity external to California's postsecondary system of education is unacceptable;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges request that the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) establish and communicate clear and measurable benchmarks for the reestablishment of full accreditation at Compton College;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges support the System Office effort to remain in control of Compton College while deficiencies are corrected; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge the ACCJC to continue Compton College's accreditation at a conditional level while deficiencies are being corrected.MSC Disposition: ACCJC, Local Senates, System Office
