Student Equity Paper

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges endorse the document "A Taskforce Proposal: Policy Statement on Student Equity in the California Community Colleges" (Draft 4/3/92), and

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges seek to incorporate in this document the following changes:
1. Delete in line 262 "... and evaluation standards for faculty and staff..."
2. In line 280, delete "... via telecourse..." (Document available from the Senate Office)

Equivalency/Minimum Qualifications

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to prepare a background paper on the basic academic and practical rationales that informed the preparation of the disciplines lists, and

Resolved that the committee include consideration of the various models and interpretations of equivalency and the placing of courses into disciplines, and

Resolved that the committee produce this paper in time for it to be a useful resource in the discussion of changes in the disciplines lists.

Equivalency

Whereas among the changes in employment law enacted in AB 1725, equivalency continues to provoke questions and concerns,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to review the issue of equivalency, the Senate's model, a sample of the procedures adopted by districts, the number of equivalencies being granted, and make a report to a future session.

Faculty Load and Professional Responsibilities

Whereas faculty load directly affects the quality of a faculty member's performance, and

Whereas faculty load should not be viewed exclusively as an issue of working conditions, and

Whereas the professional responsibilities for classroom and non-classroom faculty have expanded substantially due to the new faculty role in hiring, evaluation, tenure review, curriculum review, and governance in general, and

Whereas the quality of the faculty's performance of these duties is affected by what the impact is on the faculty member's load,
